Why Take a WTI Course? |
| Today there are many
different providers of training related to wetlands and the Corps of Engineers Regulatory
Program. Many universities and private companies advertise wetland delineation
courses. How can you know which is the best value for your limited training
funds? We suggest you look at the backgrounds and experience of the instructors (see
Instructor Bio link below) and read our participants' comments found on many pages of our
web site.
WTI selects its instructors not only for their academic training and abilities to teach, but because of their backgrounds in the subject matter and their continuing application in the real world of wetland and water regulation. Each has an outstanding academic background. Beyond that, WTI instructors have been actively involved in the development of the technical procedures, manuals, policies, regulations, and judicial decisions that are the backbone of wetland science and wetland regulatory programs and they continue applying that expertise in permit cases throughout the country. In many cases WTI instructors "wrote the book." In addition, most of the WTI instructors have been involved in applied training for decades and literally taught the Corps how to do it. Course Content |
M ost Wetland Training Institute courses have broad applicability throughout the United States. Thus, whether you take Basic Wetland Delineation in the Northwest or Wetland Construction and Restoration in the Southeast, the majority of the information in both classes will be applicable in either place. Courses on Plant Identification and the Wetland Delineation Regional Supplements are regionally focused. Participants who successfully complete any WTI course receive a certificate of completion. The atmosphere at all courses is informal. In specified courses, your daily attire should be suitable for field excursions. In those courses, expect to get wet, dirty, and tired. Normally participants are not exposed to water greater than ankle deep, but obviously we cannot guarantee any particular field conditions. |

Registration and Payment |
Register online or by mailing a completed registration form (you may copy the one on the registration web page if you do not want to register by internet) along with your check for the full tuition, or a deposit of not less than $350 per session. A valid VISA or Mastercard number will be accepted in lieu of deposit and the full amount will be charged to the card upon confirmation of the class. For phone or FAX registration, call toll free: 1-877-792-6482. Space in a course will be held no more than five days unless full tuition or a deposit is received. WTI does not invoice private companies. Space in each course is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation will be sent, including details on session location and accommodations, when there are sufficient students to conduct a session. When necessary, the decision to cancel a course normally will be made two weeks prior to the first day of the session. Balance of the tuition is due and payable upon receiving notice of confirmation. |
Accommodations and Transportation |
Lodging and meals are not included in the registration fee. Most sessions are conducted at commercial hotels. For most courses of more than one day in length, WTI will attempt to reserve a block of rooms at the course location for participants to make their own reservations. Transportation to and from course locations is the responsibility of each participant. All transportation for field trips is provided by WTI. Courses begin promptly at 8:00 AM on the first day, and most end at 3:00 PM on the final day, unless otherwise noted.

Cancellations and Refunds |
Deposits received after a session has been filled to maximum enrollment will be returned. Should it become necessary for WTI to cancel a session, registrants will be contacted and offered the opportunity to participate in another session or to receive a full refund. For a registrant to cancel registration and receive a full refund, WTI must receive a written notice at least two weeks prior to the session. Cancellations in writing after that time, but more than a week prior to the session, will receive a 75% refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations during the week prior to a session. |
