Plant Identification for Coastal Southern California

3 Days - $625

“Great course, very informative, seeing vegetation in person made all the difference.  Larry Sward was great!  I would take a class from him again.”

Jared – Ventura, CA

This is a 3-day, intensive course on the identification of Southern California plants that typically grow in and near wetlands, but many upland species are also covered.  The geographic area for the course is coastal southern California and delineators and biologists working in Orange, western Riverside, western San Bernardino, and southern Los Angeles Counties will benefit from this course.  The first morning will be spent in the classroom learning plant structure and taxonomic nomenclature.  The remainder of the course will be conducted in the field. Be prepared for trekking along the margins and through a variety of different wetland types, including coastal salt, brackish and freshwater marshes, and riparian forests and scrubs.    Each participant will receive a copy of the text, The Native Plants of San Diego, a 10-power magnifier, and supplemental information.

This course is taught by Larry Sward..

San Diego, California June 2-4, 2008

An Agenda provided here for the Plant Identification for Coastal Southern California course is from a previous course.  While drastic changes are not anticipated, due to the changing nature of what the instructors feel is critical to teach, please be aware that the topics covered in the agenda may not be exactly what will be covered in a future course.
