Field trip in Glacier

Applied Hydric Soils

4 Days - $850

This course covers critical elements in the construction and restoration of wetlands with emphasis on wetland mitigation.  Guidance and exercises on the preparation of a wetland construction plan, including: defining goals, determining physical structure, discussing hydrology, specifying soil conditions and amendments, and specifying wetland plants.  A field trip, emphasizing hydrology and site selection, will examine why mitigation succeeded or failed and what measures could be taken to rectify the failures.  Participants, upon completion, should be able to prepare complete wetland construction plans.  Additional detailed skills are taught in the remaining two courses of the series (Planning Hydrology for Constructed Wetlands and Vegetation Establishment for Constructed Wetlands).
